How Much Energy are We Saving By Neighborhood in South Burlington?
South Burlington residents reduced their average electricity use by 3.2% last year. Community-wide these reductions had a value of approximately $240,000. WIth the help of Efficiency Vermont, South Burlington now has access to a map of the city that displays changes in residential electricity consumption by neighborhood. Through a partnership with Front Porch Forum; the incorporation of neighborhood boundaries adds a relevant new dimension to the tool’s visualizations. The tool calculates changes in each of the Front Porch Forum neighborhood’s average kWh use per home.
South Burlington Electricity Reductions by Neighborhood - 2015
The map tool takes changes in yearly weather phenomena into consideration, creating a more level playing field for year over year comparisons. The tool offers a way to assess community progress in lowering per-capita energy use. The result: South Burlington used less electricity per capita in 2015 than had been used in 2013 and 2014.
