The Better Connections Program

The Better Connections Program seeks to align state and local investments to increase transportation options, build resilience, and strengthen economic vitality in Vermont’s community centers, through an annual grant program administered by Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans), in partnership with the Vermont Agency of Commerce and Community Development (ACCD). Municipalities annually compete for approximately $200,000 in projects funds. A 10% local cash match is required. The program supports implementation-focused, municipal planning initiatives that: 1) Provide safe, multi-modal and resilient transportation systems that supports the Vermont economy 2) Support downtown and village economic development and revitalization efforts Lead directly to project implementation

City Council Resolution on Climate Change

The South Burlington City Council unanimously approved a draft resolution on climate change presented by the South Burlington Energy Committee at the August 7 council meeting. The resolution was presented by energy committee members Don Cummings and Sam Swanson. The resolution joins South Burlington with the State of Vermont, and other communities and businesses, in the Vermont Climate Pledge Coalition and pledges to meet or exceed the obligations for the United States in the Paris Agreement. It also directs the city manager to work with the appropriate committees and the public to undertake the creation of a South Burlington Climate Action Plan that includes specific goals, identifies sectors of South Burlington (municipal, institutional, commercial, residential) that contribute to GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions, and develops strategies that could effectively address these emissions

Community Energy Dashboard Outreach - 2017

EAN (Energy Action Network) is partnering with VECAN (Vermont Energy and Climate Action Network) to provide targeted support in using the Dashboard to generate ideas, expand outreach, develop projects and track impact towards a more sustainable and affordable energy future. Any town can request targeted support by sending a message to dashboard@eanvt.org.
