The CITGO sign at the Dan & Whit’s General Store in Norwich has become the sign-post for energy progress in town. Starting in 2013, the Norwich Energy Committee “yarn bombed” the pole, using crocheted “weather strips” to track progress on home weatherizations. Each year since then, rings (made from foam pool “noodles”) have shown the numbers of Norwich homes going solar. Everybody in town stops at Dan & Whit’s at least once a week, so this is a great tool to keep folks thinking about energy actions. Last time we added solar rings, a resident said, “There should be fireworks every time you add one!”
