The Energy Committee (TEC) obtained a small grant through GoVermont and installed bike racks at the Latham Library, Peabody Library, Town Hall, and the Town green.

Park and Bike Areas
The TEC worked with Wells River Savings Bank and the Baptist Church in East Thetford to establish parking spaces for bike commuters, where folks can park and leave their cars for the day while they bike to work or for recreation.
No Idling Signs – The TEC produced signs encouraging drivers not to idle cars and placed them at several stores, the recycling center and the town libraries.
The TEC worked with two auto mechanics in town to offer free air for tire inflation and posted signs about the fuel and tire saving benefits of having properly inflated tires.
The TEC has distributed information about all these efforts as well as GoVermont programs and Thetford’s public transportation parking areas and bus services on our town list serve, in posters on bulletin boards around town, at our town meeting table and through announcements at the Thetford Elder Network, which serves the town’s seniors.
