When Debra Kraemer–an artist–built a new studio adjacent to her house, she and her husband wanted it to be as energy efficient as possible. With triple-pane windows, 12-inch walls, and 18-inch thick floor and ceiling, the space is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Plus, the couple hooked the studio up with their home’s solar panels, which means lighting and hot water are solar-powered!

Historic Schoolhouse Improves Its Energy Efficiency

Located in an historic schoolhouse, the Thetford Community Center achieved 70% energy savings from a retrofit project that brought 59 volunteers, private and public organizations together to carry out the project.
